4.) YAG Laser
We have a YAG Laser available in the San Marcos Surgery Center, the outpatient surgery center used by our practice. The YAG laser is used principally to make an opening in the membrane behind an implanted lens placed at the time of cataract surgery. The membrane on which the implant is placed is clear at the time of surgery but many times becomes cloudy like a frosted windowpane. This laser can make a clear opening with a painless procedure known as a capsulotomy. This laser can also be used to cut vitreous strands, reposition intraocular lenses and aid in performing a periperal iridectomy.
